A lot of people are still stocking up on office supplies.
The White House Office of Management and Budget has just released a report that says it is facing a shortage of $3.3 billion in office supplies for the fiscal year that ends on Sept. 30.
The department had just more than $4.5 billion in inventory as of Oct. 15, and it has a $2.2 billion backlog.
The report says that is due to a number of factors including a surge in spending by businesses and government agencies and the cost of hiring new workers.
It also says the administration’s Office of Inspector General is still investigating a number other allegations of waste and mismanagement at the agency.
