The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for portions of Southern Florida, the state’s fourth-largest metropolitan area.
The National Weather Services forecast for Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning shows the storm moving into a hurricane-force hurricane force and has sustained winds of 85 mph and gusts of 80 mph.
It will remain a tropical storm for much of the region, with the storm’s center expected to be near Orlando.
It is also expected to develop into a tropical depression later Wednesday.
It is the second storm to make landfall in Florida this year.
In December, the same storm was blamed for devastating flooding in the central Florida area.
